🌿 Who Are Meadowfresh?
Established in 1993 by brothers John and Mark Geary, Meadowfresh Foods is a family business located in a modern 32,000 sq. ft production facility on Youghal Road, Tallow. They produce and supply a wide range of top-quality, freshly prepared food products. Meadowfresh uses sustainable, locally grown, fresh crops—80% of which are grown within 50 km of their packing premises.
Seeking to reduce rising electricity costs and align their energy usage with their sustainability ethos, Meadowfresh contacted Solarco for a solar solution.

Solarco’s Commercial Director, Ger Crosse, carried out an in-depth site survey. A detailed design report was prepared and shared with the customer, alongside a comprehensive quotation. A rooftop Solar PV System was identified as an ideal fit due to the building’s roof aspect and slope.
🔭 What’s Next?
Meadowfresh is delighted with the results of the installation, stating:
“We have installed a roof-mounted 200 kW PV System of solar panels to cover the roof of our existing production premises. This will be used to power vegetable storage, production lines, and refrigeration, and will also contribute to the national grid in the longer term.
The solar panels will provide 80% of the factory’s electricity needs—200,087 kWh per annum.”
